Police have urged the people to remain calm and not take matters into their own hands following the uproar created by the alleded racist remarks made by UMNO Bukit Bendera chief, datikk Ahamad Ismail.
State Police chief, datuk Ayub Yaakob said yesterday that police were investigating the case and advised the public to allow due process to take its course.
He does not want the situation to be blown out of proportion. they will have to find out which party was at falt. He urged all political parties not to spread any rumours by SMS text messages. He reminded it is an offence to get involved in rumours mongering. Their priority is to maintain harmorn dand public order.
Yesterday , a police report was also lodged against state opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim, Penaga assemblyman for allegedly calling for the reporter who wrote about Ahmad's remarks to be shot. The report was lodges by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's chief of staff, Ooi Chuan Aun, at the Jalan Patani police station in George Town.Ooi said they have handed over a recording to police for further investigation.
